KDSpy Review: The Perfect Spy Tool for Kindle Publishers?

KDSPY Review:

As 2016 draws to a close, the competition in the Kindle Publishing industry is really hotting up! Gone are ‘the good old days’ where publishers used loop holes with KENP pages to earn thousands of dollars a day, and as more keywords get discovered, the more they become over saturated with books.

This leaves the newbies and seasoned experts spending more time searching for that ‘profitable’ keyword.

But this doesn’t mean that you can’t make money in this industry anymore, far from it.

As the competition grows, many less successful publishers are simply giving up. Thousands of profitable keywords are yet to be used.

This leaves a gap in the market where YOU can compete with quality content, based around profitable keywords.

Therefore you need to stay ahead of your competition with KDSpy.

What is KDSpy?

KDSpy or Kindle Spy (previous name), is a browser plugin available for Firefox or Chrome. As it’s a browser plugin it is both Mac and Windows compatible. The plugin ads a button next to the URL bar and is used on any section of the Kindle Store.

Usually Priced at $97 it is currently ON SALE for $47. This is a One Time Payment and comes with lifetime updates.

At the click of a button it pulls the data from the Top 20 books on that page and gives you the information that you need related to your chosen keyword at a glance.

This not only saves huge amounts of time but also means you can do all your keyword research on Amazon.

The user can then use this data to quickly compare the competition & popularity of that keyword, plus the monthly earnings.

The software was originally developed for Non-Fiction publishing but can also find profitable fiction genres.

KDSpy Reverse Engineers Your Keywords

Here is a look inside the software. I’ve chosen the keyword ‘Puppy Training’ for these examples.

Sales Rank & Total Monthly Earnings

There will be a whole extra blog post about how to read the data, so for now I will focus on the main features for speedy Keyword research.

After making a list of possible niches and keywords you can enter them into the Amazon search bar, making sure you first have ‘Kindle Store’ selected.

Next click on the KDSpy icon and it will pull a list of the top books on that page.

Normally you would have to open each book individually, scroll down to the sales rank and note it down. Rinse and repeat for the top 6 books.

But with KDSpy you can quickly see the Sales Rank of all the books on that page and make your judgement.

In this example book No. 4 doesn’t meet my criteria but I’ll still check out the Total Monthly Revenue.

There is earning potential with this keyword so keep it as a possibility and check back later as the rankings are updated hourly.

Start Drilling!

Next I want to drill it a little deeper. The 1st book on the page has a good sales rank so it’s probably selling 2 or 3 copies a day. It has 70+ reviews, it’s in the $2.99 price range and has fewer pages than the book I will publish.

With those statistics I’m confident that I can compete with it.

Open the books sales page and run the KDSpy software again for more detailed information.

Here a tracker can be added to the books Sales Rank and the Estimated Daily Revenue is shown. These are giving good indicators of a keyword which could be replicated.

Dig a Little Deeper…

Take your detective work one step further and look into other books written by the same author to see how profitable the niche is for them.

From the results the author has published 2 books and made 1 bundle. (No.2 on the list is a bundle of books combining No.1 and N0.3) Both of the published books have reasonable Sales Ranks and the author earns approximately $260 per month.

Not a bad passive income seeing as the latest book was published back in January 2016, don’t you think?

In Conclusion

I have found this product extremely useful. This month I’ve made around $170+ from a single book (see dashboard screen shot below.) Without KDSpy I would not have found profitable keywords.

It speeds up your research and keeps everything more organized. Even after your book is published it’s good to keep going back to analyze your competition and if need be switch categories to increase your sales.

Staying ahead of the competition and producing quality content based around a profitable keyword is the ONLY way to succeed with Kindle Publishing.
